1. Who is responsible for your data
Business Data Laboratory is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions or want to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@business-datalabs.com.
2. Data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Details you give us. Your name and email address when you enrol, sign in, or send an enquiry through our contact forms, and any information you include in messages to us.
- Enrollment and payment records.The course you purchased, order and receipt information, and the status of your payment. Payments are handled by our payment providers — we receive confirmation and a reference, but we do not store your full card or bank details.
- Account and usage data. Sign-in events and basic records of how you use your account and the Site, which help us keep the Service secure and working.
- Technical data. Information your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, device and browser type, and cookie identifiers (see our Cookie Policy).
3. How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- create and secure your account and sign you in;
- process enrollments and payments and deliver the courses you buy;
- send transactional messages such as sign-in links and payment receipts;
- respond to enquiries and provide support;
- operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and our Services;
- comply with our legal and accounting obligations.
We rely on the following legal bases, as applicable: performance of our contract with you (to deliver courses you purchase), your consent (for non-essential cookies and any optional marketing), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service), and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Marketing
We send transactional messages (such as sign-in links and receipts) as a necessary part of the Service. We will only send marketing or newsletter emails where you have opted in or where otherwise permitted by law, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails or by contacting us.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under appropriate safeguards, including:
- Payment providers (Paystack and Flutterwave) to take and verify payments;
- Email provider (Resend) to send sign-in links, receipts and enquiry notifications;
- Hosting and database infrastructure that runs the Site and stores enrollment records.

6. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside your country. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected by appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable data-protection law.
7. How long we keep data
We keep personal data for as long as you have an account with us and for as long afterwards as we need it to meet the purposes described here — for example to keep records of transactions and to comply with tax, accounting and legal requirements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
8. How we protect data
We use technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, and role-based access controls limiting who can see your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately to any incident.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@business-datalabs.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
